What's Your Beauty New Year's Resolution?

Do you have any beauty habits that you want to break? I know I have some! I've gotten into a really good routine of washing my make up brushes now but there are some other areas that I feel like I still need some help on; my skin! I really want to work on taking care of my skin better. In general I am pretty consistent with taking off my make up and washing my face but I have to admit that I do have those really lazy nights and then I wake up with make up from the night before smeared all over my face and it's so bad for my skin! I use to have such clean, blemish free skin but I have noticed it acting up more because I was getting a little lazy. So that is my new year's beauty resolution and I know once I get my beautiful glowing skin back to the way it was it shouldn't be such a burden to keep it up. Maybe I will but the Olay Pro X face scrubber that I have been looking at every time I go to Target!

What's you beauty new year's resolution?

The Evolution of Makeup and Beauty

Well, well, it's been quite a long time and so much has changed. Not only things in my personal life but also in makeup and beauty. I took a very long break from YouTube, and obviously my blog, and did a lot of self reflecting. I'm back on YouTube and will try my best to get back into blogging.
So the other day I was just looking around my own makeup collection to attempt to rediscover some items and I noticed just how much my makeup collections, items and brands have evolved. I blame it a little bit on the beauty community of YouTube cause when you think about it; gurus are perhaps the best marketing tool for any company. In the beginning of my channel, I was a serious ELF Cosmetics lover and spoke in one of my videos that I didn't understand how people could spend $14 on an eyeshadow. Now looking at my collection: I have 2 MAC eyeshadow palettes which I love. So clearly I spoke too soon and now I use a lot of fairly expensive products. I do however see the benefits of now using 'higher end' products though. My day usually begins at 8:30 am and ends at about 11:00 pm. I need my make up to last! My swear by makeup items now consist of Urban Decay Primer Potion, MAC eye shadows and MAC's Fix Plus which I must say they stand the test of long lasting products!
YouTube has been a great adventure for me and my evolution of makeup and beauty products. I would have never discovered Lush Cosmetics had it now been for YouTube! Now basically every bath and body item I use is by Lush and I have seen such an improvement of my skin. I plan on doing a video soon of my top favorite beauty and makeup products for 2011 but this will also be a re-cap of my first year on YouTube as my one year anniversary is in January. I have loved doing YouTube and this blog and keeping up with it better will be my 2012 New Year's resolution.
Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

Mint Nail Polish Leads to Nail Polish Challange?

So I caved....... I ended up buying the Essie nail polish in turquoise and caicos after all and I have to admit that I ended up really liking it BUT as a result of this nail polish I have decided to do a new video on my channel in the future. For my lovely blog followers, you will all know what I am planning.
I have an older sister who LOVES nail polish more than I do. I'd say my make up passion is the same if not more than her nail polish passion and she has built up quite a few nail polishes these past couple of months which would be great for me to borrow from her but we unfortunately don't like the same colors. There have been a few I have been able to try however. She's been buying Orly but her favorite is China Glaze which I have also tried. The turquoise and caicos polish was my second Essie polish I purchased and I have to admit that I loved the color but did not like the polish formula. I don't know why. It took a few coats and was streaky. On top of that it chipped in 3 days! I've had cheaper nail polishes last longer than that. Well, in this month's Birchbox, I was happy to see that I received my very first Zora nail polish to try out. I will be painting my nails in the color Pandora this week and in the mean time, may purchase the ever so famous For Audrey by China Glaze.
Here's what I am going to do: I am going to do a follow up video on my channel about all the major nail polish brands commonly seen on YouTube and compare their formula and durability. I also want to throw in some drug store brands however such as Sinful Colors, Elf and LA Colors cause let's face it: who's doesn't want to find good nail polish for $1 or $2. I know I do! I'm already over half way done with this challenge so I hope to have this video up in a few weeks. Meanwhile, I took a photo of the Essie nail polish while at a stoplight. I think everyday at work, I must have said "I think this color is growing on me." It did.

Beauty and Make up Trends: Do you Follow?

So, the other day my 3 girl friends and I were relaxing by the pool, just reading magazines, having a drink and a good time. My friend Nat then showed me her toe nails which were a bright pink crackle nail polish over white. She had sent me a photo by text the day before, and I cringed. I did not hesitate to let her know that I do not like the crackle nail polish trend currently going on. Then the conversation went into every one's opinion on the trend and I stood my ground. I remember back when I was in middle and first getting into make up, I was also into nail polish and what trend was very popular back then? Crackle nail polish of course! I feel like certain trends keep coming back every 10 or 15 years and this was one I did not care to see. I have seen it all over YouTube as well as other nail polish trends like mint colors.
My friends then said to me that I was the trendiest person out of the bunch! I wondered about this statement for a while. Is it because I have a YouTube channel? Is it because I love buying make up and get a rush when I see a new product hit the shelves? Is it because my make up collection is most likely larger than all three of them combined? Maybe it was the fact that my 3 other girl friends were reading gossip magazines yet I was the only one with Allure which clearly is about beauty.
What trends have I fallen for? I then looked down at my own nails and noticed that I was wearing coral and I thought about how many coral items I was currently using now that it's summer. Ok ok, so maybe I do follow some trends. I have to admit that I love the summer coral trend. It's just such a natural classic color that I think can suit many people. I have coral lipstick, blush, lip gloss and will even sport an eye shadow look every now and then that has a very small pop of coral. I also have to admit that I have been wanting to get into the mint nail polish. I think it looks so beautiful on other people but I am not sure how it would look on me. I bought a nail polish by Sinful Colors in Mint Apple cause it's affordable and I thought it would be the best way for me to try out the color. I haven't even used it yet! I was in Walgreens just tonight and found myself about to purchase the famous Turquoise and Caicos by Essie but I left it.
I can't honestly think of other trends I have really gone after but I like to think of it them "hypes" lol. For example: the Urban Decay Naked Palette. This is such a famous eye shadow palette and after I had seen it in so many YouTube videos, I bought it myself. But neutral eye shadows really aren't trends, right? A new black cream eyeliner isn't as well, right? I guess it's up for everyone to decide but despite of what is a trend or what isn't, there are no rules in make up and beauty and that's what I love about this beauty world!
